:-D you know, I believe listening to Vikingarna would make my work a mess, some say baroque music make programmers more productive (most scientific for sure...), many programmers near me listen to metal/industral. When I really need to concentrate I put on some music I've been listeing to alot before. New music demand too much attention by itself I think.

I spend my time changing from things like Benny Benassi to classical favourites at full volume in the middle of the night when no one else is in the office. It really depends on the current frame of mind :)
Seeing more of a need for an "off topic" forum for the social stuff. (It's not the first time it's been mentioned recently, see [other] Lee's post)
Music-wise, I'm a guitar rocker ... Queens of the Stoneage, Foo Fighters, Placebo, etc. [more on my last.fm] Some of my greatest code could be attributed to Kurt Cobain! ;-)
There's nothing like that 3 hour liveset featuring Kruder & Dorfmeister and Gilles Peterson playing some very nice electro/house stuff and Earl Zinger on the mic. And whenever the intro jingle gets played, I know the cigarette is overdue ;)
Currently listening to: Infected Mushroom – Blue Muppet which seems to be making me want to code fast :) Not sure I could listen to it all the time though!
Oh Laurie you've made me want to listen to Doherty again. Not his best work, but there are some pearls on there.

If I'm on an epic coding session, loud repetitive electronic stuff (Combichrist, Modulate, Greyhound, 5-FX, Frontline Assembly etc), loud guitarry stuff (Slayer, Slipknot, Korn, Pantera, Dethklok, Rabbit Junk, Korpiklaani), or better yet stuff with both (Cyanotic, Left Spine Down).

If I really am in need of some music, I'm with Lee (Them Crooked Vultures are surely giving me a boost these days).
But generally, I like the quiet like Douglas. I like being alone with my thoughts, Twitter is distracting me enough already.. ;-)

Metal is supposed to be good for aiding concentration. Don't understand why, but it seems to work for me :)
I think Audioslave or Tool are my most productive sources of auditory input.
