    Field missing from variant description editor

    uCommerce Support

    I'm running an implementation of uCommerce 6.0.0 on which I've imported product data using the uCommerce data API.

    An odd thing I've found is that when I edit the description of one of the imported variants, a field is missing from the editor window. This is not the case for a variant which I create manually in the GUI.

    The field type is ShortText and the Multilingual, Display on web site, Variant property and Render in editor check boxes are all ticked.

    I've looked through the data in the database, and I can't see any difference between an imported variant and a manually created one.

    Any ideas on why this behaviour is happening?

    Hello Nathaniel,

    Multilingual values for variants are edited in an modal window. Are you aware of that?

     

    Also,

    do you see the field under the product definition ?

    Are your variants of the correct definition in the database? And what about the parent product?

    Hi Morten, Thanks for the reply. To answer your questions:

    • I'm aware of the modal window for editing multilingual variant properties.
    • The field does exist under the product definition
    • The variant definitions are correct in the database
    • I'm not sure of the parent product, I'll check that and come back to you, but surely if the variants appear in the variant list for a product doesn't that mean their parent product is correct?

    Hi Morten, I finally had a chance to look into this further, and can confirm that the parent product relationship is setup correctly.

    Do you have any further ideas on why this might be happening? Note that it's on the imported variants where the field doesn't show up. Manually added ones work fine.

    Hi Nathaniel,

    Very strange..

    The only fields from the ProductDefinitionField table the UI checks are "Deleted", "IsVariantProperty", "IsMultilingual" and "RenderInEditor".

    Would it be possible for you to send a backed up copy of your database to us?
