I would like to have the following functionality when a user initiaes the checkout process.
Tthere should be a "Login / Register" link at
the top of the page (and on the footer). Then when you go to the "add
address" page, you can either:
login here (and then it gets your details from customer record) OR
Click a register now link. You enter your desired email / password.
If
you click the login button, you get taken to a login page, then on
loggin in you are taken to address details, which have been filled out
with the record on file.
If you click the register, you get
take to a form asking form email / password. On putting this in, you
are taken to the address input bit.
On
completion of a successful order, the address used should be stored on
the customers file. So the next time they order, the previous used
address gets pre-filled.
This is inline with the other existing popular ecommerce systems.
Does uCommerce provide this functionality out of the box, in any of the editions? Free / Pro / Enterprise?
If not, has anyone developed this kind of functionality?

All the pieces to doing this type of functionality are there, but you have to hook them up yourself.
The XSLT store we provide supports login via membership and has the ability to grab a customer address and populate shipping information from that.
The last couple of pieces you'll have to code up yourself.
