    Problem with installation

    Hello,

When I install nForum on my blank 4.7.1 Umbraco instance, and then publish the main Forum node in the "Content" section, and I attempt to do anything with the Forum, I get the following error message:

    ""

I set up my Umbraco instance using SQL Server Compact Edition, but it looks as though "something" in nForum is looking for a full SQL Server instance.  What setting do I need to change?  Is it possible to run nForum using SQL CE, or does it "need" a full SQL Server instance?

    Gary

    The error message is:

"A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)"

For some reason I wasn't able to edit my above post

I'm having the same issue, is SQL Server CE supported with nForum?

    Hello,

I have got past the above error by using SQL Server back-end, rather that SQL CE, however, I have now got another error.

    I get:

String was not recognized as a valid DateTime.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a set of installation steps that I can use for getting this installed?

    Thanks

    Gary

The DateTime error is probably caused by logging in with a newly created forum member which doesn't have a date set for " Date/Time Of Last Private Message". I noticed that adding a date "fixed" it for me.

    Hello,

Since I posted this error, I re-installed, and since then, I have not seen the same error message again.

I will keep it in mind for it the problem happens again though.

    Thanks!

    Gary
