Selecting just cropped media, and dealing with over sized uploaded images

HI guys I love the image cropper functionality in Umbraco and I seem to have the basics as demonstrated in the Umbraco.tv video working all OK ... however there are two things which seem like very logical options which I can't seems to figure.

Firstly in my current site I have a user who will upload images into the media section, with many many photos going into 'project' folders in here. These images are given to him by a "professional photographer"  and are all very high resolution. He will choose some images to cropp for use as page "Heading banners" - not all image need to be cropped plus I don't really want to store a GB of cropped images when he'll proabbly only ever nedd a dozen or so.

    a) These images are very difficult to crop as they extened off of the "desktop" window space with maybe 5% of the image visible. I thier a way to have the image scaled to the view port?

I found this previous forum discussion but it seemed as if the linked dll is no longer an option.. plus it seemed quite old referencing 4.1 .. and I have the lates umbraco erm4.6 so then this has been added right?

    b) with many folders of images I'd really like the choice presented in the content area [doctype] to be simple is thier a reccomended way to present a list of only the images that have been cropped [drop list ... or a way to get them via somthing like uComponents perhapse] to reduce error in the selection or a media element that isn't cropped?

    Hi Jamie,

The package Image Extras, http://our.umbraco.org/projects/backoffice-extensions/images-extras, solves your problem B. And maybe you can extend it to delete the original version of the file afterwards.

    Regards,

    Martin

    Hi Jamie,

Was there ever a solution to this? I'm having the same issue...also is it possible that when the client crops an image that the image then appears in the media section, there does not seem to be a way to allow the user to select a cropped image? or am i missing something?

    Cheeers,

    Stephen
