    Development/Production update for Umbraco

    Using Umbraco And Getting Started
    Umbraco 7

    Hi,

    I have installed Umbraco locally. Then I pushed it to Windows Azure.

    Now my question, where do I first install Packages? Locally first and then push them to Azure or just install them at Azure?

    When it's time to upgrade Umbraco, I do this locally or just on Azure?

    Hi Bilal,

    If you want to install packages in your website you should first install them in your local development to test it. Because sometimes its possible that you have issues with other packages and if you do this in your live environment the site will crash.

    So just install them locally test it out and if its ok just push the dll and other package files to your live environment.

    Also for updates / upgrades first test it locally them push it to the live.

    Hi Michaël, Thanks for your answer.

    When its time to push a package or upgrade, I am using VS to push all changes to server.

    Assume in some packages that I develop some DB changes are required. What shall be done then?
