Upgrading Umbraco Forms 4.0.1 to 4.1.4 in Umbraco 7.2.5

We have just discovered that there have been several new releases of Umbraco Forms since our initial 4.0.1 install.

We now have a problem installing the latest version without losing any existing forms or data. Uninstalling 4.0.1 and then installing 4.1.4 wipes out everything, and we are not confident that installing 4.1.4 over the top of 4.0.1 will install all new files. Having installed over the top the 'installed packages' entry still reports package version 4.0.1 is installed.

In the absence of any documentation on the download page, what is the correct process we should follow to upgrade Umbraco Forms without affecting any existing forms or form data?

Would it be possible in future to provide specific upgrade packages for Umbraco Forms, and perhaps some supporting documentation?

    Hi ABC Dev Team.

What you can do to upgrade UmbracoForms manually this will not affecting any existing forms. The only thing you should be a aware of is if you have made any customization to the views.

If not, then you can download UmbracoForms.Files.4.1.4.zip http://nightly.umbraco.org/UmbracoForms/4.0/UmbracoForms.Files.4.1.4.zip and simply just overrides the files with the new once.

The form enteties is in the DB, and your existing forms is in the folder App_Plugins/UmbracoForms/Data/forms and this folder is not in the upgrading zip file.

Hope this helps, and make sense.

    /Dennis

Thanks Dennis that is a good solution. The link you sent will be useful for future upgrades.
