Upgrading from old version using Master doctype to a new one using Compositions, what will happen?

I am running 7.2.5 and rely on Master Doctypes. I am planning to upgrade to a later version soon, but what will happen to my existing Master Doctypes since they apparently no longer are supported, i.e. you are supposed to use Compositions instead.

I would take much effort to layout a new web using compositions instead of master doctypes, so I hope it will work...

I have search the web for answers but have not yet found any fully reliable advice. Some say that existing Master Doctypes will still work fine, but you just cannot change them or add new ones.

So if someone have tried upgrading as I plan to do, what happened?

    Best regards,

    Martin

    Hi Martin

No worries, doc type inheritance is still supported. It is correct that using compositions is the recommended approach in most cases; they are much more versatile and you will not be locked in to a specific doc type structure.

So, your implementation will work just like it does now.

    All the best
    Rune
