I’m looking at migrating our site to Umbraco. I’ve installed a few starter kits to get to know Umbraco but none has all the features I need. Standard website and uBootstrap both partially meet my requirements but are built using different methods (Views/Partial views vs Masterpages/macros/scripting files). The Business starter kit has really good events calendar that I’d like to emulate.

So I’m wondering what other people who’ve implemented sites have done?

If starting from scratch is there a best practice guide to follow ?

In our case we’ll probably need to implement v6 but will need to keep an eye on a possible future upgrade path to v 7
