    A starting point

This (http://www.orcare.com/free-stuff/umbraco-guide.aspx) might be a good starting point.  We've had to produce manuals for users (something everyone enjoys, no doubt!) but they have been so specific to each implementation that they don't provide much value in a generic context.

    Hope this helps,
    Dan

Cool, we are almost their with ours, so not much left for the actual first release of this project, on first looks, I think we have covered everything you have, but I'll definatley go through it more thoroughly and see if there is anything we can incorporate.

    Many thanks

    Matt

Nice work! This will be very useful.

One thing though: The .pdf returns a file with no extension for me, just a "umbraco"-file. You will have to add the extension yourself.

edit: My setup is Win XP Pro 32bit and Firefox 3.6.6.

Really? They are there for me. Whats your setup? Browser? OS?

    Many thanks

I can confirm there is an issue when downloading in Firefox, but it seems to be an Umbraco issue so I'll go and report it. Untill then please use an alternative browser to download it, or just rename the file yourself.

    Many thanks

    Matt

    EDIT:

    Issue reported here: http://our.umbraco.org/forum/ourumb-dev-forum/bugs/10450-Issue-downloading-project-files-in-Firefox

    UPDATE:

Downloads in firefox are now working.

This is very useful for my client to get an understanding of how to use Umbraco once ive finished customizing it for them.

    Thanks!

    No problem,

That's the exact reason it was written, so glad it will come in handy for you.

Thank you - I really appreciate you made this guide. It is very well written and easy to understand. I have just started to get familiar with Umbraco and this is by far the best documentation I have found until now. I hope you will keep up the good work and make more documentation. It is essential for a good start with Umbraco that it is possible to get access to documentation like this. And with the quality of this document it is an enjoy to read it. So once again: thank you.

    Hey Allan,

No problem. Really glad you found it usefull.

You may also want to keep your eye out for the offical Wrox book coming out soon. This should hopefully give you more detail than my guide does. I may look at adding more items to it (probably around the different data types you can work with) but will see what the offical book covers first.

    All the best

    Matt
