I see Merchello 2.2 has brought some very nice advances in the Product Options area. I'm doing a website for a catering company, and I need to limit the amount of product option selections that the customer can pick from, i.e. in relation to the main course or the dessert. I'd also like them to be able to select multiple dishes by checkboxes.
Is that doable, or do I need to look at the source?
I think that sort of depends on how you have things setup in terms of your products.
Product options are a mapping to the variants of a product - so selecting multiple choices from a single option would actually map to multiple variants.
I could see something like:
Shared option for all main dishes:
Plate size:
- Small
- Large
Collection: Main Dish
Fish -> variants (small fish, large fish)
Steak -> variants (small steak, large steak)
Chicken -> variants (small chicken, large chicken)
Collection: Side Dishes
Rice
Potato
If you are trying to put together an entire meal, you could use the multi-product-picker ... or create a category with sub categories ... just depends on what the end game would be.
I think to do some more testing with our setup, before I decide which "route" to take. There are some pretty crazy combinations that I think we need to talk with the customer about.
