The variant re-order functionality exists in the merchello back end but doesn't seem to work. I also can't see any field in the database that I can manipulate manually to re-sort the variants.
The M-322 issue was closed due to Jason's point. There is not currently a sort order on variants as usually they are listed on the front of the site with respect to the options / choices.
Looking at this a bit further, it looks like there is a problem in the options ordering, probably introduced in 1.7.0.
Also, if someone does have a lot of variants, I can see that it would be beneficial to be able to order variants in the back office listing and it would make a good feature.
Sorry, I might have got the terminology wrong...I mean option value ordering.
Its mainly a "size" option that is the problem. Even if you enter the sizes in the right order in the backend (eg S, M, L, XL) they don't come out on the front end in the entered order.
If you click on the "Reorder variants" link in order to reorder the option values, it doesn't appear to persist the changes. Or are you saying that that reordering function is just to change the option ordering and not the option value order?
Hi Rusty,
This doesn't seem to be working in 1.13.1 release - did you end up getting this patched? Can you point me at the right place to fix it perhaps?
Thanks for the heads up. I have some refactoring to do in the Bazaar over the next couple of weeks to account for the Payment providers so I have a look then.
We're also planning another simpler, more generic Umbraco, build in a few weeks that will use the Models builder.
Re-ordering Variants in Merchello back end
Hey,
The variant re-order functionality exists in the merchello back end but doesn't seem to work. I also can't see any field in the database that I can manipulate manually to re-sort the variants.
I found this closed issue in the issue tracker http://issues.merchello.com/youtrack/issue/M-322 but its been closed without a fix.
Is re-ordering working for anyone else? Should I create a new issue in issue tracker?
Cheers Trevor

I'll figure out what going on with it can get things patched up in the next sprint.

Ta, Rob.
I don't think this is fixed in 1.14.1 either. Is it on someones radar or should I have a go at finding the bug?
Hey Trevor - I'd always love the help =) but wanted to confirm with you it is on my radar as well ... I just have not had a chance to look at it yet.
Awesome....thanks Rusty
Is this bug still present? I think I'm having the same issues here..
I did some fixing with the views and some js and got it working:
https://github.com/Merchello/Merchello/pull/1644
Awesome, #H5YR - I'll look at this today and get it merged in.
Might be that we need to respect the sorting in more places than this - ie. in the SiteApiController of the Bazaar-project.
I think that I missed it in one place in the code there.
Thanks for the heads up. I have some refactoring to do in the Bazaar over the next couple of weeks to account for the Payment providers so I have a look then.

is working on a reply...
