When changing content in umbraco which is in a published state does just saving the changes result in that content becoming unpublished?

    Hi Robert,

If you have a page (lets call it the about page) and it is currently published.

If you go into the back office and make a change to that page and save it (not save and publish), the change you've made will get saved, but it won't be published so you can't see it on the front end.

Now, if you want to unpublish your page but don't want to lose your changes after you've saved the page (again, not published it), you can then unpublish it. This will unpublish the current version.

However, if you then want to publish the previous again, it's not that straightforward (in fact, I've never had a need to do that so I don't know how you'd actually go about it).

To view the different save/publish options you have, next to the Save and publish button (assuming you have publish permissions), there is an up arrow. If you click on this you get additional options. Generally these are "Unpublish" and "Save".

If you've set a publish at date, (and assuming you are on the later version of Umbraco). The "Save and Publish" button might read "Save and Schedule" instead.

    Does that help?

    Thanks,

    Nik
