I've taken on a client whose site is running 6.0.2, one of the first tasks they'd like me to undertake is an upgrade to v7. It's a pretty basic site, quite a few pages but it's all just RTE content -
It's been a long time since I've worked on a v6 site, the mountains of xslt and webforms make my skin crawl, just a little.
Will I have any obvious issues with moving to v7 given the webforminess of the site? I know 7 supports both rendering engines, but will I be missing anything major by not porting everything over to Razor?
Also considering whether I'm better off spinning up an empty v7 site, pointing it at the v6 database, running the db upgrade, and moving the macros/masterpages/xslt over into the new site - seems like it would be faster than working through 3 years worth of version upgrades...
Anyone done similar and feel like sharing their approach?
