    Is Merchello any good to use to build an e-commerce website that handles more than 50,000 products?

    Is Merchello any good to use to build an e-commerce website that handles more than 50,000 products?

    In my previous project, there was a case where we had around 2000+ locations and we structured it like this:

    Locations
    |------> Location1
    |------> Location2
    |------> Location3
    |------> ......
    |------> Location2000

    It blew up the performance of the website as it is not a good practice to hold many child nodes under one parent node. We fixed it by separating the locations across regions and areas.

    Now that we are speaking about 100K products and Merchello leverages UmbracoContext Cache, will it affect the performance of the site.

    We can run a quick test but wanted to check with the community before we spend our first penny on that effort.

    We are considering Umbraco/Merchello mainly because it is open source (easy to bend rules or extend) and almost free, and we are a startup to justify the economical approach.

    Hi Premkumar,

    uCommerceenter link description here is also an option if you wish to scale your catalog to large sizes. It is a commercial package for Umbraco, but you might be able to use the free edition for your purposes.

    It will certainly hold 50,000 products, but you need to figure out whether you need investigate which version is appropriate for you from a feature perspective.

    Let me know if you need a demo or have any questions at ssl AT uCommerce DOT net

    Thanks.
