Is Umbraco User's Guide book still relative today?

I am just curious how much Umbraco User's Guide book is outdated and how much is still relative to v7. As far as I am aware, it is the only book available for Umbraco CMS. The documentation and videos are not very comprehensive to my mind, I would like more in depth documentation to learn development of the CMS. Anyone that read the book can advise if it is still worth the time reading. Thanks.

That book was written in 2011 for Umbraco 4.5/4.6. Umbraco 7 has been out for a while now.

I would not recommend reading that, as you'd learn some bad practices by doing so (e.g., it might even recommend XSLT, which is definitely not the way to go now).

Now that Umbraco recently updated the documentation, it would be useful to start there: https://our.umbraco.org/documentation/
