would like to know if it is still possible to use a custom membership provider when using Umbraco in latest version. We have an very large system which has all information regarding authentication and would like to switch Umbraco to that.

I have read that it shouldn't be possible anymore ... has anyone experience with the latest version? We would like to override the whole stuff from membership provider not only the authenticate method.
