    Split CMS from website

    Developing Packages
    Umbraco 7

    Hi there,

    I'm assisting a company in changing platforms from an old one to Umbraco. They have currently got Umbraco set up in such a way that if the CMS goes down the Website will go down (they do not seem to be split) - we realised this when the CMS had a problem and went down which also brought down the site.

    Ideally if the CMS went down we wouldn't want the public facing website to go down also (and vice versa).

    Is it possible to split the two out and if so what would it take?

    Hi Mohsen

    Another option is load balancing whereby you have a server that solely is used for content management and which pushes content changes to the public facing server(s).

    Also potentially enables the ability to lock down public access to the admin area (if the admin area is within a corporate network).
