    Automatic website screenshot

Has anyone made this in Umbraco?

I want the user to enter an url in the umbraco backend and then the output shall be a screenshot of that url.

    Use http://www.picoshot.com/ as temporary solution.

Will build something that works on the server so its not third party dependant.

If someone already have done this or wants to help please write here or at twitter :)

Can you configure what browser the screenshot is generated in?

Well, as it's .NET and Microsoft the .NET class only supports rendering it through IE.

I'm looking at possibilites for other browsers but at the moment the only way to do it as i see it is rendering it through IE..

You want to choose it rendered through safari or Firefox because sites may look ugly in some sites? or? :)

Just viewing it in IE would suit me just fine :)

Sounds good I will definitely try it out when you are finished.

Easiest way to generate website screenshots is to use online tool. There are many good tools, I am using http://w3snapshot.com/  these days is. Working fine for me.

    Hi Victor,

I've looked at most of the tools out there.

Fx W3Snapshot is really nice if you only need to display a few webshots - else it gets pretty expensive fast :).

Also the free one with branding is not cool.

    Hi Daniel,

Did you complete the snapshot package?

    Hi Helena,

We did a custom thing for the client to display the snapshots via an URL.

We didn't wrap it up as a package though - you are welcome to contact me on skype if you need it done, nickname: dhd123

Else I think we will make it as a package next month.
