Release Notes

Notes for version 7.5.2

This bugfix release solves the problem where you were unable to save a new hostname on a node or set user permissions due to javascript errors.

What happened to 7.5.1? It was released the day before 7.5.2 but unfortunately we discovered the user permission problem was not fully fixed after release.

Umbraco 7.5, the "System management update"

  • 301 redirect management
  • Health check dashboard
  • Password recovery for backoffice
  • Packages installer UI update / packages can target a minimum Umbraco version

Make sure to read the blog post for the 7.5.0 release!

Note: version 7.5.x changes the ImageProcessor version, which might have impact on your site. Make sure to read the blog post for all the details on that.

Note: if you had previously installed the beta/beta2 and are relying on the URL tracker already then please note that we had to make some changes and WILL drop the redirect table completely, so all of your current redirects will be deleted. Make sure to make database backups so you can migrate them.

Make sure to follow the general upgrade guide.

Upgrading from 7.3.x / 7.4 pre-releases

Note: if you're doing a NuGet upgrade from 7.4.0-RC1 then your web.config will be overwritten completely, make sure to back it up first and then restore it after NuGet is done working. This will not happen in future upgrades and only affects upgrading from this one specific version 7.4.0-RC1. You will also lose the App_Browsers folder, make sure to copy those files back in too.

Note that the only significant config file change is that the UmbracoMembershipProvider, UsersMembershipProvider and UmbracoRoleProvider have been updated in the web.config.

Please also remove the /Install folder if you haven't done so, it is no longer used and might conflict with the new upgrader if it's still there.

Notes for version 7.1.10

This is a security patch release fixing a data exposure vulnerability issue related to MiniProfiler.
You can read the details of the issue here: https://umbraco.com/blog/security-advisory-10th-december-2019/

Upgrading from 7.1.x

Important: we've added two keys in the web.config, your previously cropped images will no look be cropped if you don't add them, so don't forget:

In the httpModules section add:

<add name="ImageProcessorModule" type="ImageProcessor.Web.HttpModules.ImageProcessingModule, ImageProcessor.Web"/>

And in system.webServer/modules add:

<add name="ImageProcessorModule" type="ImageProcessor.Web.HttpModules.ImageProcessingModule, ImageProcessor.Web"/>

Other than that, follow the general upgrade guide.

Upgrading note

Google Chrome has notoriously aggressive caching, so if something doesn't seem to work well in the backoffice, make sure to clear cache and cookies thoroughly (for other browsers as well).

One way to nudge the cache in Chrome is to open the developer tools (F12) and go to the settings (the cog icon). There will be a checkbox that says "Disable cache (while DevTools is open)". Once this checkbox is on you can refresh the page and the cache should be invalidated. To force it even more, the "reload" button next to your address bar now has extra options when you right-click it. It should have "Normal reload", "Hard reload" and "Empty cache and hard reload" now. The last option is the most thorough and you might want to try that.

We're working on making this experience better and seamless, but for now make sure to follow these steps for v7 upgrades.

Upgrading from 7.0.3/7.0.4

Follow the general upgrade guide.

The significant config file changes are that the UmbracoMembershipProvider, UsersMembershipProvider and UmbracoRoleProvider have been updated in the web.config (if you're using the older providers then there's no need to update them though) and an assembly redirect is added to point to Newtonsoft.Json version 6.

Please also remove the /Install folder if you haven't done so, it is no longer used and might conflict with the new upgrader if it's still there.
