* Acrchitecture is good for the current media section but tools to use it in the back end are hard to use.
* Features that would improve the current Media section are
- Taging of media items, and even self tagging if that's possible (it's possible, see this)
- Search for media items by tag (and other attributes)
- find media items referenced by pages
- publishing and versioning of media, as there is for content
- previewing of media items in the media section
- ability to act as an origin server for a CDN such as CloudFront
As an asside I'd be happy to collaborate on a project to look at how the Media section and associated backend components can be improved either through creation of a new packages or by documenting existing functionality so that it's better understood.
