Karma FAQs
Q. What's Karma?
Karma is used to determine how much an Umbracian participates within the community and the quality of the content submitted to our.umbraco.org.
When someone likes what a person has said they can increase their karma by clicking the "Like" option. Additionally Karma can be decreased if the information is not liked. Karma is not just restricted to the forum, but includes projects and wiki-pages. So when you reward a topic/comment/project/wiki-page you reward good content, you ensure that we can remove spam quickly and that people who do good for the community gets noticed, that is what karma is all about.
There is one exception in the case of karma. When you reward a wiki page, none of the contributors to the page will get any extra karma. We decided to not reward wiki authors as the system would be too easy to game and spam could become an easy way to gain points. So after considering all the ways we could implement a reward system we decided not to included wiki-pages but will try to reward our wiki authors in other ways than karma points.
