    How does product pricing work?

Looks like a great product but I do have a few questions...

Does the system allow product pricing by quantity e.g.

    • Between 1 and 5 products = £3 per item
    • Between 6 and 10 products £2 per item
    • Above 10 products £1 per item

Also, will the system work with Umbraco 4.5 - the download page says it does, but your notes on the Umbraco Package page say it only works with 4.6 Alpha (confusion seems to be the norm with Umbraco).

The reason I ask is that, as Umbraco isn't the most stable product at the best of times and version 4.6 will no doubt be full of bugs and not be release until 3 months after expected, we need something that we can offer our customers sooner rather than later i.e. early 2011.

Oh and one more thing... I know we'll have to pay per site but will it be open source?

    Thanks,
    Kevin

    Hi Kevin,

    product pricing by quantity:
No you cannot do that. You can give the products a special price for every currency. But only a fixed price.

    Umbraco 4.5:
We have a problem with the 4.5 version. We use the Umbraco base feature wich is very good. in older versions you could use Session state in base, but in 4.5 the Umbraco developers destroyed it. This means that we cannot access Session state in 4.5. We have had them fix it in 4.6, but that won't help us with 4.5.
We have been working on 4.6 all the time and it seems very stable though. So That's what we're gonna use for our own projects. We will be testing Tea Commerce next week and will try to come up with a solution to the problem. I do have an idea as to how.

    Open source:
No for now we will keep the code to ourselves. I cannot tell what the future will bring. But we need to earn back the hours spent on the product first.

I hope that answers your questions

    /Rune
