Is it possible with Courier2 to pull data from a website on a production server to a local development machine that is only connected to the public Internet?
Thanks for your help. But what I don't fully grasp right now, is wich url for my local development machine I have to configure for the repository node in the courier.config file of the staging website, so that I can pull data from the staging website to my local development machine. The only thing I now is the name of my development machine, I don't know wich url - if any - my local development machine has?
Guess I didn't really understand your question fully, in that one site cannot 'see' the other.
Courier 2 stores all it's files in the file system, so you would need to run courier on the production server, then copy the files/package down then apply them using Courier 2 in your local instance.
I'm not 100% sure on the details, however I know it's possible.
The Courier 2 video from Codegarden will show you more details when it gets uploaded.
I'm still getting my head around this myself but my understanding is:
1. Create a revision on your production server - go to Courier section, right-click Revisions and choose Create. You can then select what is in the revision.
2. Add your production server as a repository on your local dev box.
3. Go to Courier section on your local dev and click the repository for your production server. The revision you created should be listed and you now have the option to transfer to your local dev machine
4. Once transferred you can then install the revision.
(I'm not in front of my Umbraco install at the moment so some steps may be slightly different!)
