    Stopping spam posts

    Hi Folks,

After some advice really, we've got a legacy site thats running Contour v1.11.1 and for the last few weeks its been posting muliple spam posts and I was after the best way of stopping/filtering these spam comments?

I've tried creating a hidden field which if populated would stop the posting but the bots must be intelligent enough to avoid this as it's had no impact.

Is there some sort of plugin that could work? Would upgrading to a later version of Contour have any impact?

Could someone fire some advice my way please?

    Thanks,

    Craig

    Hi Craig,

Perhaps you could try to have a look on this post: http://our.umbraco.org/forum/umbraco-pro/contour/57940-Source-of-spam.

Another thing you could try is to install the Contour Contrib package (DonĀ“t know if it will work with Contour 1.11.1) http://our.umbraco.org/projects/developer-tools/contour-contrib

But in this package there is a ReCaptcha field type, maybe you could use this to minimize your spam posts.

    Hope this helps,

    /Dennis
