    Getting ERR_CONTENT_DECODING_FAILED on install

I am trying to install Contour on Umbraco 7.1.4 and currently not able to do a successfull install.

I am getting the "package installed"-screen, and the MvcRenderContourForm.cshtml is created, but the contour form doesn't show. When trying to install, I get an error from the dependencyhandler: http://i.imgur.com/NoAKPZ6.jpg

I have read on the issue tracker that I could add urlcompression to the web.config, but this haven't solved my problem: http://i.imgur.com/UpSoyTj.jpg

Any suggestions on what to do, to solve the problem?

NB: The Umbraco installation runs on SQL CE

    Hi Søren

Not sure if it's an issue with the installer when installing using the package. Is it possible for you to roll back and try installing Contour manually following this guide? http://our.umbraco.org/projects/umbraco-pro/contour/documentation/Installation/manual

There is a specific SQL script for CE SQL.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Jan

I have tried it the manual way, but no luck. Umbraco randomly throws ERRCONTENTDECODING_FAILED when I am navigating around in the backend.

Any suggestions on how to eliminate this error?

    Hi Søren

Did you do the manual install on the same version where the package install did not work?

Have you checked the /app_data/logs to see if it reveals more information about the issue? If there are any entries marked with "ERROR" and you can see they're related to Contour then please share them.

    Hi Jan

    Yes I did.

I haven't checked the /app_data/logs yet. The solution is placed on a local network, where you have to be on-site to get acces to the server. I'll try to check the logs after the weekend.

    Hi Søren

Ok, so is there a firewall involved as well?

Looking forward to hearing from you after the weekend.

I have been digging around in the latest log, placed in /app_data/logs

This is what the log says from when i try to install contour and until it's done: http://pastebin.com/YuhPaRA6 It doesn't throw any errors, but in my network panel, in the browser, it still throws ERRCONTENTDECODING_FAILED from the dependencyhandler.

    Any suggestions?

    Hi Søren

Good to hear that and thanks for sharing - Must be something related to 7.1.6 then.

    Hi Jan

You asked earlier about if a firewall was involved - There is! After moving the solution back to the live server Contour has disappeared again.

Is there something I have to setup in relation to the firewall?

    Hi Søren

Aaah ok...well then it would probably have worked with 7.1.6 as well then.

I'm no network or firewall guru but I just know that it can cause trouble. Is it possible you can try deactivating it for a short period of time to see if it indeed IS caused by it?

You probably need to allow some traffic somehow. But as I said...I'm no wizard at that stuff.
