Right-click drops user back to Content

I've just been playing around with Umbraco 7 for the first time (specifically 7.1.6 in Azure) and have installed Contour 3.0.22.

I've found that if I right-click on any of the tree nodes then instead of popping up the "menu panel" it drops me out of Contour and back into the Content section. To create a new form I need to click on the "..." icon, which is difficult to get used to when right-clicks work throughout the rest of Umbraco.

Does this happen for everyone or is it just me? Admittedly I'm not using a supported browser (SeaMonkey 2.30) so that's why I haven't gone straight for YouTrack :)

    Hi Chris,

I can confirm that is not only you that experiencing if you right-click on any of the tree nodes then instead of popping up the "menu panel" it drops me out of Contour and back into the Content section in Umbraco 7.1.6

But this is fixed so the right click option is back in version 7.1.7 and of course in Umbraco 7.1.8, so if it´s an option then you could upgrade your installation. If you choose to upgrade I would upgrade to Umbraco 7.1.8. But by upgrading to just 7.1.7 it would save you a lots of memory http://umbraco.com/follow-us/blog-archive/2014/10/2/umbraco-717-and-623-saving-you-loads-of-memory

But if you have plans of using the Merchello package, you need to upgrade to version 7.1.8 http://umbraco.com/follow-us/blog-archive/2014/10/8/umbraco-718-and-624-released

Here are the documentation on upgrading a Umbraco installation in general http://our.umbraco.org/documentation/installation/upgrading/general and here a specific version http://our.umbraco.org/documentation/installation/upgrading/version-specific

    And upgrading a Umbraco 7. http://our.umbraco.org/documentation/installation/upgrading/v7-upgrade

    Hope this helps,

    /Dennis

Aha! I'm only testing things at this stage (it'll be months before we actually get around to doing anything - need to get everyone off IE 9!) so I'm in no rush to upgrade. The Umbraco "template" in Azure will probably be past 7.1.6 by then :)

(Sorry, I don't know the official names for all this stuff; I only started with Azure and U7 yesterday).

    Thanks for your help :)

    Hi Chris,

I was digging deeper into it, and the the right click is working in Umbraco 7.1.6, and it´s the same for Umbraco 7.1.7 and Umbraco 7.1.8. Try to reload your URL to the backoffice the you should get the right click funtion back. Maybe it necessary for you first to visit the frontend and then go back to the backoffice.

If you click on the sections name when you are in a section and the right click on a folder in that section you will get back into the Content and you need to reload the url again.

I have marked it with green what I mean if you click on the section name. I would create a issue in the issue tracker and then I would post the link to the issue in here so other that come accross this post can vote for it.

Thanks. I've confirmed the same behaviour at this end and have voted. Thanks for adding the issue :)

Are you using Firefox (or another Gecko browser) too? I just tried it from home in Safari and it behaved exactly as I'd expect. It's possibly a Gecko-specific bug.

    Hi Chris,

I have tested in Firefox and Chrome. But if you click e.g on the settings name in the settings section, did you experience the thing that I describe in my previous post? Where right-click drops user back to Content, until you logout from the backoffice, and back in again.

I had that problem with SeaMonkey (same engine as Firefox) but not with Safari.
