What exact version of Umbraco are you using? And are you using the "Umbraco as a Service" stuff? Or did you just place the post in this category because no other category seemed to suit the question?
It matters in regards to figure out what to advice you to try out :)
Ok - Has the site been running for a while before this started to happen? Or is it a fresh site? It might be a good idea to check if the webserver perhaps is running out of space?
I've also been getting this on occasion in the past. In my case, it happens with various Umbraco versions (pre 7) and hosted in Azure. Sites would be running fine and then suddenly this would happen without me touching the site. So far, the only thing that worked for me was an application restart.
