In the template editor up in the the left corner, you can see the "save" button. The button right next to that one is where you can put in fields in the template. When you click this button you can select all of the properties you have defined yourself or the default umbraco properties by selecting the dropdown in "choose field".
NOOB: Templates and Content Loading
Ok another noob question sorry but im picking it up a bit now just this one thing has got me a little confused.
How do i tell a template to out put a content value i get that it will use the alias but what is the tag for the template file?

I can also recommend the videos from umbraco.tv and it's really a cheap price for getting an all-round introduction to Umbraco. I recommend that you start here: http://umbraco.tv/help-and-support/video-tutorials/introduction-to-umbraco - there are a couple of free videos in there as well.
