umbraco 4.7 on godaddy virtual directory shows repeating domain name in URL

    Hi,

I have got a wierd problem.

I'm installing umbraco 4.7 on godaddy hosting where i have several domains.

i have set up a domain to a folder and made that folder as a virtual directory in IIS (.net 4)

The domain name is automatically being repeated for each and every URL.
    e.g http://domain.com/domain.com/install/?........

I installed it any way, All went fine set up wise but the problem is with the URL
All published pages look like http://domain.com/domain.com/pageX/

Note: i have not touch any configurations files so far apart from db connection string.

I'm not sure if its the problem with virtual directories or i have to ammend some settings.

Could you please help in this regard?

    Thanks

    Hi Muhammad,

Umbraco doesnt suppport Virtual directory. If you intend to install packages on thie instance, you might encouter some issues during installation.

However if you are using this Virtual Directory for implementation and will then move your website to its domain name, you wont have any problem.

    Hi Fuji,

Thanks for your reply. Actually i dont understand this in the situation above because i can find umbraco working 100% but with incorrect URL writing.

A domain (http://domain.com) is pointed to a folder on godaddy hosting. This folder is then set as .net 4 app in iis. This folder should act as root of the app. Why it is repeating domain name.
Every thing is working fine, i can create templates, xslt etc and work on the website. The only problem is with the URL.

Do i need to alter some configurations?

    Thanks

I had the same issue and everything is working fine though. But from the moment you will migrate your website on the real domain name it should have the proper URL.

Am be you could try using Managed Hostname in your Content Section. But one thing, its way better not making use of Virtual Directories. There are so many packages that you might want to use.
