Hi,

I have sent this as an email to the core team, but I thought I should add it as an item on the Forum feedback.

There are quite a few bad links within the current application ( and the 4.1 source ) which I am sure would really help people if we fixed them!

These are the ones I have found, I am happy to create a patch for the hard coded ones, but I think some would be better left and the re-directs fixed by one of the Umbraco HQ guys?

Visit Umbraco Link

Help Page

Current Link: umbraco.org/.../dashboard.aspx

Suggested Link: I think I would suggest that someone at Umbraco HQ actually updates this page, it is
very out of date, it mentions the help section being updated in the middle of 2008! Also it links to
the old Wiki and no mention of our.umbraco.org

In the Packages / Created Packages / Package Actions tab

Current Link: Package actions documentation

Suggested Link: our.umbraco.org/.../package-actions

And the following should be added to the Wiki page: http://umbraco.tv/assets/package actions.pdf

Has anyone come across any others?

Cheers,

Chris

Hi,

I have just had a look on Codeplex and found one of the issues related to my points above:

Help Button:

umbraco.codeplex.com/.../View.aspx?...Id=25334

The rest I could not find...

They are all very small changes which I am sure someone could fix in about 20 minutes and would save a lot of new users a lot of initial frustration when trying to learn how to use Umbraco.

Cheers,

Chris

Hey

It would also be great to get the 404 page link fixed too. I've not attended to this issue on our sites because i've not had the 30 mins it'll take to search for the 404 Docs - http://umbraco.org/redir/custom-404

I think it's a brilliant idea to get these links fixed, so let's get them as work items in the tracker.

I am - however - not a fan of first e-mailing the core list, then post here and use Twitter to add pressure on an issue. We have fine working official channels which is forum => tracker => voting = core team attention.

Other means only adds more stress to a core team which is doing their best.

Kind regards,

Niels...

Hi All,

Sorry if I offended any of you core guys, I think you have done an awsome job on creating Umbraco!

I will have a good hunt through codeplex to see if any of the other issues exist and if not I will create a new ticket.

I have created the codeplex Tracker ticket:

umbraco.codeplex.com/.../View.aspx?...Id=25388

Cheers,

Chris
